JavaScript was created in a mere ten days, almost three decades ago, and is the king of all web development languages, according to Jared Smith. Who also stated that to date, JavaScript is the only language that can be run natively in a web browser. This edition of Brain Food has the Software Developer’s thoughts about the coding language.
One of JavaScript’s biggest downfalls is that it was created in such a short period of time and cannot be completely overhauled without disabling thousands of websites. Instead, it has had to be patched and, in Smith’s opinion, has become a Frankenstein’s monster of programming languages.
